Gerard Claret

Gerard Claret, Violinist.

He was born in Andorra in 1951. Throughout his professional activity he has become known for his dual role as an interpreter and pedagogue.

He has recorded works by Bach for violin.

He is the founder of the Barcelona School of Music, the Vic International Music Course and the Barcelona Trio, with whom he has recorded works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Dvorak.

From 2000 to 2005, he was director of the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya.

He has been artistic director of the Narciso Yepes d’Ordino International Festival until 2018 and of the Crèdit Andorrà Foundation (Principality of Andorra) until 2019.

In 1993, he founded the Andorran National Classical Orchestra and has been its concertmaster-conductor until 2020. In 2000 he created the Andorran National Youth Chamber Orchestra.

From 2007 to 2012, he was a tutor in the music area of ​​Trivium, a performing arts center in Sant Julià de Lòria.

In 1998, he was awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi by the Generalitat de Catalunya.

In 2010, he was appointed National Ambassador of Unicef ​​Andorra.

He currently conducts the Vic International String Quartet Academy and is the creator, artistic and concert director of the Orquestra Diletant de Catalunya.

Recently, he has formed, with his sons Sergi and Jordi, the Trio Claret, having performed in Andorra, Catalonia and Costa Rica.
