Josep Maria Escribano

Josep Maria Escribano Casaldàliga,
Manresa 1948

Pianist and Artistic Director of the Music and Dance Season of Andorra la Vella since 1993. He works in the field of artistic management collaborating with various organizations organizing cultural events. He is a trustee of the Victoria de los Angeles Foundation and vice president of the Joan Guinjoan Foundation.

For 22 years he has been the director of the Andorra Institute of Musical Studies in Andorra la Vella.

He won the National Music Prize of the Generalitat de Catalunya in its first edition in 1991 as the best music performer of the 20th century.

He has recorded on CD all the pianist work of the American composer George Gershwin, commissioned by the label “Pequeñas Cosas” on the occasion of the centenary of Gershwin’s birth.

He has been the organizer and responsible for numerous cycles of concerts and musical events (congresses, master classes, conferences, round tables, courses, exhibitions.

He has worked at TVE as a coordinator and advisor to programs dedicated to classical and contemporary music.

He was a founding member of the Association of Classical Music Performers.

He has received numerous commissions to develop cultural projects abroad to revitalize new spaces or to rethink programming.

As a columnist he has collaborated in renowned specialized journals and as a professor, pianist and lecturer he has participated in various discussion forums, conferences, professional associations, foundations, universities, schools and conservatories.
